The Mason Manta Ray’s Sydney Lofquist won the Cincy Women Sports high school Sportswoman of the Year award.
The Cincy Women Sports is an organization that looks at athletes in the greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area.
Lofquist was one of the ten finalists running for the award, and the only swimmer amongst the group.
At just 16-years-old, Lofquist is already qualified to swim at the National Championships and Olympic Trials. Her specialities are the distance and middle-distance freestyle events, where the 500 in short course yards and the 400 in long course meters are arguably her best events.
She swims a 4:42.28 short-course 500 and a 4:16.35 long-course 400. Among her other swims, her 200 and 1650/1500 freestyles are very solid as well. She swims a 1:48.97. Her 1650 is an impressive 16:44.87.
Her 400m IM could rival her freestyle events, where she’s already achieved an Olympic Trials cut with her time of 4:50.54. Her 200m fly is also very solid, sitting at a 2:16.77.
Lofquist wasn’t the only person involved with swimming to take home an award, as Notre Dame Academy coach Emily Knoll won the High School Coach of the Year for her efforts, giving swimming two total awards.
Jacqueline Keire was nominated for the College Sportswomen of the year award. Keire swims at the University of Cincinnati.
