Taastrup NTC Swimming Pool Open For Danish Elite

We reported on May 11th that 41 elite Danish swimmers received governmental approval to return to the water, but now we have more specifics on exactly where they can train.

The Danish Swimming Union has confirmed that the high-caliber group, including Signe Bro and Tobias Bjerg, has the ability to return to the National Training Center at Taastrup Swimming Hall. Taastrup, home of the annual Danish Open, is still closed to the public but will be available to national team swimmers as they train for the postponed Olympic Games.

”It’s really great to be able to train in ‘our’ swimming pool again,” says 21-year-old Bro. “It provides good opportunities to work on some details of the training, and then it provides optimal preparation for next year’s Olympics.

“It means a lot to me that the Municipality of Høje-Taastrup, and the employees of Taastrup Swimming Pool, welcome us back today on Monday. The training facilities, and the employees, in the swimming pool are one of the best in Denmark, and it is fitting that we must return in absolute top form.

Bro continued, “As an athlete, continuity really means a lot to mental well-being, which is why we really appreciate the support from the municipality of Høje-Taastrup and the employees in the swimming pool. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the staff in the swimming pool again – maybe with a cup of coffee at the poolside.”

In terms of coronavirus precautions, there will be a maximum of 10 people in the pool area at a time. The training is time-shifted in teams with proper cleaning and removal, etc. between the teams.
