Background Lucas Bureau was born and raised in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. In high school he was a multiple time state finalist and a multiple event junior national qualifier. College 2012-2013 As a freshmen, Lucas was selected as a member of the ACC roster. He placed 3rd on Virginia Tech's 800 freestyle relay. As an individual, he placed in the top 16 in the 200 IM, 200 freestyle, and 200 fly. 2013-2014 In his sophomore campaign, Bureau was a crucial piece in Virginia Tech's first ever ACC championship. He earned a silver medal as a member of Tech's school record setting 800 freestyle relay and a bronze as a member of the 400 freestyle relay. As an individual was all-ACC in the 200 freestyle finishing 8th. Lucas would go on to the NCAA championships to compete as a member of Virginia Tech's 800 freestyle relay. 2014-2015 In his junior year, Bureau emerged as a mainstay on all of VT's freestyle relays. At the 2015 ACC championships, Lucas was again all-ACC in the 200 freestyle and placed in the top 16 in the 200 IM. He earned a bronze medal as member of the 800 freestyle relay and also finished in the top 8 in the other freestyle relays. At the …
