CLAREMONT, Calif. – Freshman Nick Tan was named the SCIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week and junior Kendall Hollimon was named the SCIAC Diver of the Week for the third time this winter, the league office announced today.

Tan and Hollimon helped the Stags close out their SCIAC regular season with wins over Cal Lutheran and La Verne in a tri-meet at Axelrood Pool on Saturday. CMS finished the regular season with a 7-1 mark in conference meets after picking up two wins in their final home event of the year.

Tan won all three individual events he participated in to pick up his first SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honor. He swept the two backstroke events, taking first in the 100 back with a time of 53.00 and then adding a win in the 200 back in 1:55.44. He closed out his three-win day by taking first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.85, the only swimmer to touch the wall in under two minutes.

After studying abroad in the fall, Hollimon continued to return to his form from a year ago, which led him to All-America honors. He swept both the one-meter and the three-meter diving events to remain perfect against Division III competition this year (his only losses came against Division I Cal Baptist in his first meet after returning). He scored over 300 points in both events, tallying a 303.75 in the one-meter and a 330.80 in the three-meter.

The Stags have now had five weekly SCIAC honors this season, with Hollimon taking three. Junior Henry Limm was also named the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week back on Nov. 19. Including the Athenas, the CMS swimming programs have won 13 weekly awards this year, including four from senior diver Jacque Desmond, who picked up her fourth of the year this morning to give CMS a diving sweep.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in its final event before the SCIAC Championships. The SCIAC Diving Championships will be held Feb. 16-17 at Pomona-Pitzer, with the SCIAC Swimming Championships being held one week later from Feb. 21-24 in Commerce, Calif.
