The TCU swimming & diving women’s team is set for their first home meet of the season as they host Tulane at the University Rec Center Natatorium on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. It is the first regular season meet for the Frogs.
Saturday’s meet marks the first time since 2005 that Tulane and TCU will square off, when both were members of Conference USA.
Now as a member of the American Athletic Conference, the Green Wave open the season at the North Texas Relays on Friday night, Sept. 26, before facing the Frogs the following day.
Head Coach Richard Sybesma and the Frogs open up their 36th season together and third in the Big 12. Last season, TCU’s women’s squad posted a 6-2 record, including a spotless 3-0 mark in conference play.
The Frogs return seven seniors from last year’s squad. Ali Bleasdell holds two school records in the 200 and 400-yard individual medley events, with times of 2:01.04 and 4:18.21, respectively. She was also a member of the school-record setting medley relay teams in the 200 and 400. All four records were set in 2013.
Last season’s squad shattered three all-time TCU marks, with junior Lyndsie Gibson accounting for two of them. At the Aggie Invite, Gibson toppled the school best in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.76. Gibson set a new TCU record in the 100-yard backstroke at the Big 12 Championships with a time of 54.80.
