Team USA Earns Three Golds on Day 2 of Junior Pan American Diving Championships

Day two of the 2021 UANA Junior Pan American Diving Championships saw three additional Gold Medals for Team USA as well as 7 additional medals, bringing the total U.S. medal count to 18.

Friday’s competitions started with the simultaneous events of the Boy’s D three-meter and the Girl’s B one-meter. In the Boy’s D three-meter competition, Mexico’s Ian Nava Gutierrez was crowned Champion with a total score of 243.25. Leonardo Yañez Rodriguez (MEX) placed 2nd with a total score of 230.85, with U.S. diver, Cristiano Garcia rounding out the podium with a total score of 213.95. When it came to the girl’s B 1-meter, Ana Ricci (PER) was named the Champion with a total score of 318.45, silver went to Keira Lu (CAN) with a total score of 309.30, and bronze was Mia Prusiecki (USA) with a total score of 298.80.

Afternoon competition at the 2021 UANA Junior Pan American Diving Championships saw more platform divers earn medals. In the Girl’s C event, Ruth Elisa Páez (MEX) took gold with a total score of 247.20, silver went to Lila Stewart (CAN) with a total score of 238.14, and Kayla Jensen (USA) earned 3rd with a total score of 233.70. For the Boy’s B platform event, Joshua Hedberg (USA) was named Champion with a total score of 449.00. Silver went to Alejandro Flores Jimenez (MEX) with a total score of 445.70, while the final podium spot was claimed by Emilio Treviño Laureano with a total score of 443.25.

Continuing into the afternoon session medalists were named for the Girl’s A three-meter and Boy’s A one-meter. In the Girl’s A three-meter, Sonya Palkhivala (CAN) earned gold with a total score of 430.00, Daryn Wright (USA) took silver with a total score of 417.15, and Joslyn Oakley (USA) placed 3rd with a total score of 394.95. Following the Girl’s competition, Carson Tyler (USA) earned in gold in the Boy’s A one-meter with a total score of 463.35. Maxwell Weinrich (USA) followed with a silver earning a total score of 458.80, while bronze went to Ben Smyth (CAN) with a total score of 441.20.

The day ended with one additional gold medal for Team USA in the girl’s A/B synchronized platform event. Kaylee Bishop (USA) / Mia Prusiecki (USA) earned the gold medal with a total score of 236.85. The Silver medal went to Julianne Boisvert (CAN) / Katelyn Fung (CAN) with a total score of 233.01 and the bronze medal went to Kelly Mejorada Hernández (MEX) / Jecza López López (MEX) with a total score of 224.16.
