Team USA Women To Play Three Game Series Against Hungary In Miami

Miami, FL – June 26 – The 2016 U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo has arrived in Miami, Florida to kick-off a three game series with Hungary, their first competition since the official roster for the 2016 Olympic Games was named on June 16 in Los Angeles, CA. The first match, slated for Miami’s Ransom Everglades School takes place this Monday evening at6pm. On Tuesday the red, white, and blue head north to Greenwich, Connecticut for a second match with Hungary at the Greenwich YMCA on Wednesday, June 29 at 7pm et. The series closes with a stop in the Big Apple as the two Rio bound competitors square off at Fordham University on Saturday, July 2 at 2pm et.

Rosters have been announced both Team USA with Hungary with little surprise from the United States as Head Coach Adam Krikorian plans to dress the 13 athletes named to the Olympic roster. The first stop on the series marks a homecoming for Team USA goalkeeper Ashleigh Johnson. From 2008-2012  Johnson guarded the cage for the Ransom Everglades Raiders helping the school to three Florida High School State Championships. Johnson, the first African-American woman to be selected to a U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo Team will look to thrill the South Florida crowd once again in the series opener. Greenwich, Connecticut showed their excitement for a Team USA visit early on, selling out the Greenwich YMCA in a matter of days. The 7pm tilt between the United States and Hungary will follow a live episode of “The #CounterAttack with Greg Mescall,” USA Water Polo’s popular weekly web show featuring athlete interviews, match previews and much more airing at 4:30pm et.

From there it is a short trip south to New York City and the historic Rose Hill campus of Fordham University for a 2pmmeeting on Saturday, July 2. Home to the Fordham men’s water polo squad, Team USA will look to jump start the fourth of July weekend style with a matinee in the Bronx.
