KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee swimming and diving program opens the 2019-20 season Friday afternoon with the annual Orange and White Intrasquad Meet at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

The meet begins at 3:30 p.m., and admission for all regular-season meets is free of charge. Tennessee’s clear bag policy will be in effect.

This is the eighth year of the men’s and women’s combined Orange and White Meet. The Orange squad leads the series, 4-3, after snapping the White team’s two-meet winning streak last season. Team Orange took down Team White, 314-276, winning 18 of 32 events.

The Orange team returns seven event winners from a year ago in Stanzi MoseleyMeghan SmallEmily SykesAlec ConnollyEien McGeeNathan Murray and Matthew Wade. Moseley, Small and Sykes each won two events in 2018 with Connolly, McGee, Murray and Wade winning one apiece.

The White squad returns eight event winners from last season in Erika BrownTess CiepluchaSinclair LarsonAlexis YagerTaylor AbbottMatthew GarciaGleb Ionichev and Josh Walsh. Brown and Small each won two events last year while Abbott swept the 1,000 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle for the third-straight season.

The Vols’ intrasquad meet is different than most as the swimmers and divers are selected to either the Orange or White team as freshmen and remain with that team for the rest of their career.

UP NEXT:
Following the intrasquad scrimmage, the Vols will travel to Wilmington, N.C. for a dual meet with UNC Wilmington on Friday, Sept. 27 and an open water race on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This is the year for the HooHooLEEmann to get after it. Can he shock the world and win NCAA in the 100 breast? Uhhh – certainly! Lets ALSO see Garcia/HooHoo/Brage/Conwaytwitty take the SEC title in the 200 Med and hang on at NCAAS for win #2 of 2020.The possibilities are almost endless for this year’s squad of coonskin madhatted Volunteers! Best wishes to all team members, parents, coaches and alumni for an amazing experience at UT 2019/2020. GO VOLS.
