Texas were good. Cal were great. A few swims here or there, a few relay exchanges here or there, and the meet might have swung the other way. Well deserved win for the Bears. Rivalries like this bring out the best in both. 🤘

If Windle was there (which he shouldn’t have been), this thing likely comes down to the final relay

That’s right! Diving has put them “over the top” in previous years but not this one. Goes to show how much Texas relies on the diving at NCAA!

What percentage of TA&M’s points this year came from diving?

Dumb comment. Ed would just give those extra scholarships to more swimmers and win if there wasn’t diving.

Texas has not won NCAAs on swimming points since 2017. There were seveal swimmers that did not score points so adding more swimmers would not make a difference. If there are recruitable swimmers out there who could score why not recruit them and leave your present non scorers at home? Part of Eddie’s winning stratagey is tryihg to have a 100 points in diving. If anything Eddie should give more diving scholarships.

You’re arguing more scholarships wouldn’t lead to better recruiting? No way. Eddie could take the 2 extra scholarships he traditionally gives to divers, and use them to attract scoring swimmers that would otherwise go elsewhere due to being offered more money there. Imagine you’re an undecided top 10 recruit and Cal offers you a full scholly but Texas says sorry we’re out of money…

Tip notch swimmers don’t go to the school that is the highest bidder.

Yep. Texas had at least half their guys going lifetime bests, but 1) had to go so hard in prelims that it was tough to do again at night, and 2) Cal had even more guys reaching new peak performance.

Bravo to Cal for a great meet. Hook ’em.🤘🤠
