Texas, Purdue, Virginia Tech the Big Winners of Zone Diving (Complete Invite Lists)

Below is a full list of all of the divers who have qualified for the 2014 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

The big winners were Purdue, Texas, Miami, and Virginia Tech who all qualified huge hauls for the NCAA Championships.

The Purdue Boilermakers qualified a total of 7 divers for NCAA’s – 3 women and 4 men. With Indiana in their first year under a new diving coach, and an undeniable recruiting rivalry between the two schools, Purdue made a huge push with so many qualifiers after a few years where Indiana stood on top of that battle.

The Cal women and Georgia women each got a diver in. Georgia’s Laura Ryan is more versatile that Cal’s Rowell, so that’s probably advantage Georgia, but the Bulldogs were hoping to get two divers into the meet.

Among the most noticeable absences at NCAA’s is Missouri’s Loren Figueroa. She was 5th on the 1-meter at NCAA’s last season, but didn’t qualify for the meet this year.

Also notably absent are any Texas A&M divers – a program that has been so strong in diving for so many years. That includes no Ford McLiney, who won the SEC titles on both the 3 meter and the platform.

The Texas men hit their dream scenario, with four divers qualifying for NCAA’s. That could put them somewhere in the range of 100 NCAA points – points that they’ll need to contend for the team title.

Perhaps the biggest winners of Zone Diving were the Virginia Tech women. With three women divers qualifying, in addition to Weronika Paluszek being invited as a swimmer, the Hokies now have four invited swimmers (which we’ve already established can include divers), meaning that they can bring up to four uninvited swimmers to participate in the 800 free relay and the 400 medley relay, where they’ve hit Provisional Standards.
