Aside from the 100 Free world record on Day 1, it had been a pretty quiet world championships… until the men’s 800 Free Relay.
3 men split 1:43, the top 3 teams were within .24 of each other, and a 16-year-old held off the reigning world champion to bring his team to victory.
Just realizing China won both free relays with the same quartet. Has any country ever done this before?
High school and club level teams rarely run the 4 guys for the 4 and 8 fr relay, much less a country at an international LCM meet. I get the fields are depleted and this is a historically slow worlds, but nevertheless impressive
Paris could be ridiculous. So excited to see what happens there.
And China won with no Wang Shun and have a few others around 146. Could be a 5 way battle in Paris when you add in Australia
Oh geez i don’t realize the Chinese anchor was only 16! Props!
Electric race!
