The Rivalry: The Greatest Swimming Rivalry of All Time (Documentary Film)

From the dusty swimming vaults of a little website known as swimnetwork, a swimming documentary has been at rest. It was (and is) perhaps the greatest “rivalry” documentary film ever produced.

Starring

David Cromwell, the smartest swimmer on earth.

Brendan Hansen, the greatest 100 IMer in Texas Swimming history (I think).

Eric Shanteau, the greatest breaststroke coach David Cromwell has had or ever will have.

Aaron Peirsol, the greatest backstroker of all time, delivering a stunning performance as a weird 1970s coaching throwback.

Featuring

Sam Kendrick , the voice of USA Swimming.

And the iconic swim coach Eddie Reese.

Many, many thanks to Mike Gustafson, one-half of the creative team behind the making of this swimming film.

Hilarious! Who was the guy swimming into the lane lines on his backstroke?

I remember this! Hilarious. Peirsol looks like the gay cop from Reno 911. I miss Swimnetwork.

Btw, I believe Hansen was the first American (world?) swimmer to go under 1:00 for each of the 4 individual 100 meter races. Not sure how many have done so since then.

Haven’t seen this one yet, but in terms of rivalry, the extended version of unfiltered with phelps v Crocker was pretty good
