TheSwimsuitGuy Sonny Trigg to join ISL’s Energy Standard as Season 3 Coach

Best known as a tech suit reviewer on YouTube, TheSwimsuitGuy will be joining Energy Standard as a coach for season 3 of the ISL. He also will be running the team’s social media on Instagram. The ISL season begins on August 26 in Naples, Italy.

TheSwimsuitGuy has about 7,850 subscribers on YouTube. His real name is Sonny Trigg.

In addition to running a YouTube account dedicated to swimming and tech suit reviews, Trigg is a coach for Plymouth Leander Swimming out of Plymouth, England. There he is the head of regional and county development squads.

Trigg began coaching at the age of 15 as a volunteer with local disability swimming club Colchester Phoenix. He then was an assistant coach at Team Ipswich in Ipswich, England before making the move to Oman where he spent three years coaching BSM Marlins.

Trigg also continued to train in between the time he spent coaching and making his videos. At the British Swimming Trials in April, 26-year-old Trigg competed in the men’s 50 freestyle finishing 17th in a time of 24.41. His best time of 23.85 is from May 2019.

Prior to coming home for British Trials, Trigg can be seen in his YouTube video below swimming in Turkey. Something to note is that he also was being coached by Energy Standard coach Tom Rushton

In season 1, Energy Standard was first in regular season points going undefeated. The team then won the European Derby to advance to the final. In the final, they scored 453 points, beating London Roar by 9.5 points.

During season 2, Energy Standard won three of it’s four regular season matches, and finished as runner-ups to Cali Condors in the fourth. Energy Standard also won its semi-final match before finishing as runner-ups to Cali Condors in the final.

Season 3 of the ISL begins on August 26. Energy Standard will be one of four teams participating in the first match on August 26 and August 27. The team will try to match their success from the first two seasons.
