Three members of USA Swimming have been added to the U.S. Center for SafeSport disciplinary database over the last week.
Derek Fromson of Chevy Chase, Md., Tyler Lustig of Milwaukee, Wis., and Kirk Peppas of Miami, Fla., were added to the database in January, all facing allegations of misconduct.
Lustig is currently under temporary suspension with a no contractive directive, while Fromson and Peppas are both listed with temporary restrictions.
USA Swimming has confirmed the registrations of all three members to SwimSwam, with Lustig and Peppas registered as full-time coaches and Fromson as a part-time coach.
Kirk Peppas
Peppas is the head coach of the Metro Aquatic Club of Miami, the club he founded back in 1983.
There is currently no additional information regarding his addition to the SafeSport database. He was added on January 25 under temporary restrictions for allegations of misconduct.
Peppas’ case has been dismissed and he is no longer listed in the SafeSport database.
Lustig, 23, is set to appear in court on February 7 for two felony charges for invading privacy using a surveillance device and attempting to capture an intimate representation.
According to a report from Milwaukee, Wis., outlet WISN, Lustig, a youth swim coach at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, is accused of secretly recording video of a 13-year-old girl as she changed clothes before practice.
According to local police, the recording took place in a utility closet inside Cudahy Middle School, where Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center has rented time for its swim team. On Dec. 21, the girl said she was changing into her swimsuit when she saw a “shiny object” propped up, and discovered it was a cellphone that was recording.
After looking at the video, she saw Lustig placing the phone there. She then deleted the video in a panic, put the phone back where she found it, called her mother, and then went back for the phone but it was gone.
After police were called, Lustig admitted to putting the phone in the storage closet and told them it was his “sick curiosity” that made him do it. He said he had never done something like this before.
“I kind of hate myself right now,” Lustig told police.
He previously competed for the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as a freshman in 2016-17.
Lustig is no longer employed by the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, which issued the following statement:
“The reported allegations against our former employee are contrary to everything we stand for at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The safety of all our athletes is our highest priority and we take seriously our and our employees’ obligations to abide by the law, Safe Sport expectations and mandates, as well as protocols and expectations set by USA Swimming. We regularly train our employees on these expectations and have zero tolerance for any behavior that is contrary to these laws, expectations and norms. We are fully cooperating with the investigations into these allegations.”
Derek Fromson
District Court of Maryland records show that Fromson is facing two charges for unsafe backing of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He is listed as a parent for the Bethesda Barracudas in Bethesda, Maryland.
Update: Fromson’s charges were dismissed on Oct. 4, 2022. He says they were unrelated to him being in the SafeSport database.
KP is a great man and coach. Hope allegations are cleared and he can return to doing what he loves.
Agreed. Kirk is the greatest coach I have ever had – truly world class. A great man and very very good person.

I was wondering if it was as bad as it sounded based on the felonies listed in the link in the article… guess this confirms it.
yes, very sad… we’ve all heard this story before.
What happened to Jeremy Kipp?
Based on the last info out there, fired by a school, shouldn’t safe sport investigate this and prevent another accident to happen?? (Just in case he tries to coach somewhere else)
Jeremy Kipp is still technically employed by USC. They told us a few weeks ago that while he’s still listed as head coach on the website, he continues to be on administrative leave and Lea Maurer is interim head coach. So far, his contract has not been terminated.
Oof. Kirk Peppas was an elite 100 freestyler back in the day.
Not exactly sure what the issues were with KP, but hopefully it will be resolved soon.
The ‘issue’ is publich information. You just need to type his name on Google. And, if for resolved you mean not allowing individuals with clearly some anger managent problems to be on deck and abuse our kids, absolutely yes, let’s ‘resolve’ this permanently.
Enlighten us, because apparently, I don’t know how to use Google. Can’t find anything other than the this article. Give us the link.
I wish I could attached a screenshot… follow these instructions:
1) type ‘Jeremy Kipp’ on Google
2) pick whichever article you want
That simple.
Since you seems a little dishonest with your comment, here is the link

That’s embarrassing. They were asking about Kirk Peppas…
Interesting name. Applesandoranges typically used to mean that you’re comparing two things that are too different to be compared in a meaningful way. It’s like saying they’re incommensurable.
Has their been some kind of a resolution in the investigation of Jordan Windle. There was a statement that he was suspended from team activities by UT, but he is still on their roster.
SafeSport investigations typically take over a year, although they claim to attempt to expedite it when a current athlete is suspended. Jordan had the chance to appeal his temporary suspension and didn’t win. SafeSport generally doesn’t suspend individuals unless they believe that minors are at serious risk if the person is allowed to continue participating in NGB activities, and it’s extraordinarily rare to issue a temp suspension to a current athlete. The allegations that have previously resulted in temp suspensions to current athletes were Really Bad Horrifying Stuff. (Temp suspensions after an arrest is reported while SafeSport requests court records to verify identify, like the two in this article above, are quite common.) Texas didn’t have to suspend him, and… Read more »
There has not been any movement.
When the FBI starts investigating, those investigations do not often move quickly.
The last one seems an odd addition based on information provided.
