With just less than a year to go until the start of the 2016 US Olympic Team Trials, USA Swimming has announced that tickets will go on sale starting this Monday, June 29th. All-session tickets for the 15-session, eight-day event may be purchased through any Ticketmaster outlet nationwide or online at ticketmaster.com. Tickets also can be purchased at the CenturyLink Center Omaha box office or by calling 800-745-3000. The 2016 US Olympic Team Trials will start on June 26th, 2016 and continues through July 3.
Editor’s note: the end of the pool with sections 127-128 will be the finish end for all races, and the starting end for all races aside from the 50 free. That is, the right-hand side of the diagram on ticketmaster.com.
Ticket prices are $550, $450 or $350 for the 15 sessions, which include seven morning preliminary sessions and eight evening finals. All-session tickets are transferable between family and friends and guarantee the same seat for each session. Other ticket packages and single event tickets will be offered closer to the event.
There is also a “Victory Row” seat package, that puts fans in the front-row seats directly on the pool deck. Those cost $1,100 per seat.
In a release from USA Swimming, they wrote they are hopefull approximately 1,400 swimmers will compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. That figure is more than 400 swimmers less than the number of competing athletes in 2012.
Our most recent count of US Olympic Trial Qualifiers as of June 23rd showed that 989 swimmers have qualified for the meet. We worked up a spread sheet showing the full list of qualifiers in each event, and then another list that shows every qualifier in each event from youngest to oldest.
USA Swimming’s most recent Olympic Trial Qualifiers publication on June 23, listed the youngest qualifier as Hannah Guay from the YMCA of the North Shore. Unfortuately, it was discovered that an error was made in the SWIMS database and she still has some time to drop before earning her first Olympic Trial Qualifying time.
There are three 13 year old qualifiers on the women’s side. Madelyn Donohoe from The Fish has a qualifying time in the 800 freestyle (8:46.11) , Zoe Bartel from the Fort Collins Area Swim Team has a qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.19), and Kate Douglass from Westchester Aquatic Club has a qualifying time in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.71). Andrew Abruzzo from Germantown and Michael Brinegar from Donner swim club both qualified in the men’s 1500m freestyle as 14 year olds. Abruzzo has a 15:36.03 and Bringer has a 15:47.96.

Editors: you recently edited your article to show which end is the starting end. I went to the trials in Omaha in 2008 and 2012. Is the 2016 set up the same or did the ends flip?
Shoot!! Is it possible that the pool will be oriented differently? We bought tickets based on our experience in 2012. I hope SwimSwam or one of the other swim organizations will confirm the orientation. The pool location was not shown in the TicketMaster website.
The section numbers in the article above are the correct orientation.
I just got off the phone with Ticketmaster. You must purchase with a VISA (which I don’t have!) and they are only selling the 15 session package now (which I would actually even buy…if I could). I’m the mom of one of the 13year olds with an OT cut and I am super annoyed!
Congrats on your 13 year old getting an olympic trials cut. VISA has a big investment in the olympics so they don’t accept paypal, Amer Express, etc. They pay for this exclusivity. You won’t be able to buy a Pepsi or a Whopper either. Yahoo Answers says you can usa a pre-paid visa which you can buy from any convenience store and use online.
Solution 2. Ticketmaster also has retail outlets where you can use cash. http://www.ticketmaster.com/retail-outlets
Solution 3. Prelims won’t sell out and you’ll have no difficulty buying individual morning sessions.
Ticketmaster is a nightmare. I was never able to reach a human after trying repeatedly and it’s quite a chore to even find the site that’s selling the Trials tickets. Try this link:

Like it or not the 13 year old is now part of the show and as far as inconveniences go this is a pretty good indoctrination. Imagine for a minute if mom’s 13 y/o makes the US olympic team….. Six weeks to find swimming tickets for relatives (Again, VISA only) , book flights, find hotel room(s), book time off work, learn basic Portuguese, get a passport with Brazilian travel visa, vaccines and find someone to water her plants and feed her dog.
in 2008 there were plenty of people selling single tickets outside the arena, i wouldn’t worry too much
Anyone looking for a seating chart can find one here: http://swimswam.com/faq-seating-chart-for-olympic-trials-in-omaha/ (Note that this is from 2012.)
Anyone know when individual tickets go on sale, not a big fan of 1500s and other events on last couple of days
