Tickets are now on sale, and still available, for the 2014 Santa Clara Grand Prix at the George F. Haines International Swim Center.
The meet will run from June 19th-22nd (the 19th is a ‘distance day’), with prelims beginning at 9AM local time and finals at 5PM local time.
While entries aren’t out yet, it’s a safe bet that Franklin will swim Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; Phelps will swim Friday; and Adrian will swim Friday and Saturday. The full event schedule is below so you can pick days with your favorite swimmers.

Santa Clara has some of the lowest ticket prices we’ve seen at the Grand Prix series, and with the number of swimmers who turned out to see Franklin and the Cal women’s team at just a dual meet in the area (no Phelps included), expect seats to go fast.
An all session pass runs just $35; individual prelims tickets are $5 each, while individual finals tickets are $15 each. $10 tickets are available for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday finals sessions for those 13 & under, though proof or age will be required at the door.
There’s also a VIP package that includes front row reserved parking, 2 VIP all-session passes with good seats, in-seat food and drink service, and a couple of t-shirts. That’s not a bad deal either. Learn more about the VIP package here.
This meet will be the last on the big national circuit before August’s National Championships that will select the teams for the 2014 Pan Pacs and the 2015 World Championships, among many other meets.

- 400 Medley Relay
I think he’s only going to swim the 200 free (assuming he qualifies)/4×200 freestyle relay, 100 fly and 4×100 medley relay at Pan PACs this year. This would allow him to swim all 3 relays and the 100 fly at next year’s World Championships. Next year he’ll probably work on getting his backstroke and breastroke on track and swim the 200 IM, 100 free, back and breast along with the 200 free and 100 fly in grand Prix meets leading up to the 2016 Olympic Trials. Remember, Bob Bowman said his training this year would only prep him to swim 6-8 races at a big meet, and the training group he’s working with is heavily weighted toward the 200 free.
I think this meet he’ll want to swim more events but that doesn’t necessarily mean 2 a day. A 200Free/200Back in consecutive races isn’t going to happen period. It’s too brutal of a double and I feel fairly confident that on Day 3 he’ll only do the 200 free. Day 4 is a toss up between the 200IM and 100Back. I could see him going for the shorter event just to get another swim in, but I would think he’ll want a few more races under his belt before going after the 200IM.
Day 2
100 Free
100 Fly
Day 3
200 Free
Day 4
200 IM
When I put / between two events, I meant that he would choose one of the two, not swim both.
Please don’t consider other people’s comments here to be a criticism of your predictions! None of us know any better than you do, that’s for sure! LOL! By the way, the way you typed your comment, using the “/” symbol was grammatically correct, because it means “and, or”, so if people misunderstood you it just means they didn’t read carefully enough. Anyway, it’s great to read comments from such a young swimming fan here! Good luck with your own swimming career!
Michael’s “Full Schedule” Predictions:
Friday-
• 100 Freestyle- 48.5-49.0
• 100 Butterfly- 51.5-52.0
Saturday-
• 200 Freestyle- 1:48.0-1:49.0/ 200 Backstroke- 1:54.0-1:55.0
Sunday-
• 200 IM- 1:55.0-1:58.0/ 100 Backstroke- 53.5-55.0
even if he does swim the 200 back there is no way he would go 1:54, same with the 200 IM at 1:55. To my knowledge he isn’t even going to swim these two events in his comeback, but I could be wrong.
Well, he hasn’t told anyone his full schedule. But, I thought that high altitude training would help your times? I’m only 13 years old, so I don’t know how that works.
the 200 back is a very hard event in long course. that and the 400 IM are definitely out for Phelps.
There’s no way Phelps does the 200 back, and although the 100 back is more likely, I highly doubt he’s going to swim that as well. 100 fly, 100/200 free and 200 IM seems much more likely for a full schedule
hahaha… Bob The Builder: I like your Phelps’ full schedule predictions. Thanks for making me smile.
Pretty sure that grandpa & all my friends who live around the area would not want to miss out on this rare chance to see MICHAEL PHELPS swim.
Yes, it’s a Father’s Day gift for grandpa.
Go Michael 2016 Rio
i am hoping to see Phelps swim both the 100/200 free at this meet. pretty plz!
here are the events that i think he will swim to test his strength & endurance >> 100/200 free, 100 fly, 200 IM, 100 back, 100 breast (why not? 😀 )
Go MP!
phelps wont do more than 2 events
You don’t think there’s any chance he swims both 100 free and 100 fly prelims on Friday, picks one for finals, and then swims the 200 free on Saturday?
TheTroubleWithX – I think there’s a very good chance that he does that. He sort of hinted in Charlotte that he’d swim a “full schedule” in Santa Clara. We don’t know what that means, but it has to mean more than one race:
http://swimswam.com/phelps-says-200-fly-post-race-comments/
And of course, we also have to remember that he still needs a 100 free qualifying time for Nationals if he wants to swim it, as strange as that may sound.
Although, the 100 fly and the 4×100 free are on the same day at Pan Pacs. So, if he’s planning on doing that, it might not be a bad idea for him to go ahead and swim both finals here (assuming he makes both) just to see how it goes, since the only way he doubles at Nationals would be if NBAC swims a relay.
