Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Poland Scratches Women’s 4×200 Free Relay on Day 5 Prelims

There was one event scratch on day 5 prelims of the 2020 Toyko Olympics and it was Poland dropping the women’s 4×200 free relay. They were seeded 17th out of 17 entries.

Poland had no finalists in the women’s 200 free on day 4.

Canada’s Pickrem sill listed in the 200m breastroke then. She was also entered in the 4×200 free prelims.

i thought there are supposed to be only 16 invited relay teams? how come there is a 17th team?
Poland were seeded 17th with a time of 8:08.38.

the top 12 from 2019 worlds heats are automatically selected, then 4 wildcard spots are awarded to the 4 fastest teams within the qualifying period. Poland was the 4th wildcard, then was overtaken by another country at the last minute (Switzerland I think?). but fina accidently invited Poland over Switzerland, which was resolved by allowing both countries to compete in the event
