Tom Rushton Walks Through Training Cycles for ISL Swimmers During Competition

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman HodgesGarrett McCaffrey, and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

We sat down with Energy Standard’s Tom Rushton, the head coach for the ISL club in its 3rd season. Rushton starts our discussion with the humble beginnings of Energy Standard from 2017, when he and James Gibson started training a small group of athletes at Gloria Sports Arena in Turkey in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games. We then turn to topics such as mid-distance training, prepping different athletes for ISL-type of racing, and altitude training camp after the ISL regular season.

I worked alongside the man, never ever got that impression. He always volunteered his time with other coaches from other clubs and freely offered his advice/workouts.

From our perspective, Tom has been by far the easiest person in the ISL to work with. He’s one of the few individuals who seems to understand the need to publicize a professional sports league.

I also don’t get the sense that he’s a brown nose at all. Maybe you’re confusing “being nice” with “being a brown nose”? Hey, if you want people to feel comfortable posting on your site, stop hitting on comments and let others have an opinion. Seeing too many admin responses that aren’t really necessary. Just a thought.

I’m not an admin but Tracy that’s a terrible take.

You’re just mad because your “opinion” about Jackpots didn’t align with “facts.”

Why isn’t Braden allowed to have an opinion on Tom, too? Especially in response to an anonymous character attack that doesn’t seem to be true?

Keep commenting B & the rest. I love it when you tell me I’m wrong.

Coming from the master of anonymous character attacks…you seem to be an expert on all swimming matters and opinions. Perhaps you should write under your pseudonym for SwimSwam?

Also who has Tom Rushton coached? I can’t find any information on him.

So the people that make this site possible are the only ones that can’t voice opinions or correct misinformation? That sounds logical and fair /s.
