Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Alicia Henry from Alpharetta, Georgia has announced her verbal commitment to the University of California, Berkeley for 2021-22. The top 100y breaststroker in the class, Henry is a 2020 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100m breast and was recently upgraded to Honorable Mention on our list of top girls from the high school class of 2021.
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of California Berkeley! I would like to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for their incredible support throughout this process. GO BEARS!! 🙂 #babybear 💛🐻💙”
Henry swims for Dynamo Swim Club and for Alpharetta High School where she is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She won the 100 breast and set the GHSA 6A state record with 1:00.56 at the 2020 Georgia High School 6A State Championships in February. She also placed 6th in the 200 IM (2:06.49), led off the winning 200 free relay (23.95), and anchored the runner-up 400 free relay (51.50) to help Alpharetta finish 2nd in the team standings.
Henry had two A-final finishes at Winter Juniors East: she took 3rd in the 100 breast (1:00.69) and 8th in the 200 breast (2:19.83). She went a lifetime best of 2:15.36 in the 200 in prelims. She also competed in the 200 IM. Since December, she has updated her PBs in the SCY 50/100/200/1000 free, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 200 IM. She also earned her first OT cut in the 100m breast, going 1:10.40 in March.
Best Times:
- 100 breast – 1:00.20
- 200 breast – 2:15.36
- 200 IM – 2:04.66
- 50 free – 23.95
- 100 free – 52.40
- 200 free – 1:55.51
Henry’s 1:00.20 will be a nice addition to the Golden Bears’ lineup. It would have been the second-fastest time in the 2019-20 season behind Ema Rajic’s 59.31. Rajic was an A-finalist in the 100 breast as a freshman at 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Championships. It took 59.55/2:08.73 to score in the 100/200 breast at last year’s NCAAs.
Henry will join the Cal women’s roster with fellow verbal commits Annika McEnroe, Elizabeth Cook, Ella Mazurek, Jessica Davis, McKenna Stone, Melanie Julia, Mia Kragh, Shelby Suppinger, and Stephanie Akakabota.

Nice pickup!
Not exactly a GA Boy, but close enough! Sweet kid! Hard worker! Will do great things for the Golden Bears!
Congratulations! Another breaststroker for the Bears!
Ali Harrison went a 59.8 this season, so it would have been the third fastest for the bears not the second. Besides the point though. Congratulations Alicia! GO BEARS!
a 1:00 breast goes a long way. Good Luck Alicia!
If she led off the 200 Free Relay in 23.95, isn’t that her best time as opposed to 24.06?
