The Top 8 Men in Each Event from Combined Winter Juniors

2016 U.S. WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2016 U.S. Winter Junior Championships  for the East and West are now complete. We’ve gone through the results of each meet and put together lists of the top 8 swimmers in each event from the 2 meets combined. We’ve also listed the top 8 teams in each of the relays. This article is for the men’s events only, so keep an eye out for our women’s version, which will be published soon.

There were 3 individual men’s National Age Group Records broken at the meets, including the 15-16 NAGs in the 200 free and 500 free by Drew Kibler, and the 200 breast 17-18 NAG by Reece Whitley. Those 2 swimmers were also part of a small number of swimmers who are ranked #1 in multiple events in the combined results. Ryan Hoffer, who ranks #1 in 4 races, is the only other swimmer to join them on that list.

**(NOTE: We used finals times for each swimmer when compiling the top 8. To make the top 8 list for combined results, swimmers had to be in the top 8 at their respective juniors meets)**

I think I speak for everyone when I say that I’m disappointed with Ryan Hoffer’s performance. He should be dropping time. Not gaining time. He went in the opposite direction this meet. He should have gone sub 41 in the 100 free this year. It didn’t happen. I shut my computer off as I wallowed in my own disappointment. How is he supposed to be the first man to go a 39.99 if he keeps gaining time in the 100 free. Maybe he peaked? Let’s face it ladies and gentlefish. He’s not the same man he was a year ago.

I really hope you’re joking… he’s still only in high school, and he’s one of the fastest sprint freestyler ever. So what if he had one off meet, it happens. Maybe new training next year will do even more wonders for him

It would be cool to score out the combined results as sort of a mythical juniors.

Man these kids are swimming fast

John Walker (even if Jack reminds Dolan, the other great 15-16 years old great revelation who swam at Winter Nats)

I believe I saw a comment from his dad the other day that said he went by jack. I’ll look back and make sure though.

SwimMAC Carolina calls him jack too. John is his first name in the heat sheets and all that, but he prefers to go by Jack.

Daniel Roy finished second in the 200 breast. Not Daniel Carr.
