As a follow-up to our report just days ago concerning a small group of Australian Olympians having been located in a coronavirus hotspot, the athletes have been officially cleared from a health perspective.
Kyle Chalmers, Mack Horton, Madi Wilson, Tamsin Cook and Zac Incerti all visited Magnetic Island in Queensland on Sunday, a location which was subsequently labeled as an exposure site due to a coronavirus-positive hospital worker.
The swimmers had been in Townsville for training before joining the rest of the Aussie team in Cairns. They were also isolated from the remainder of the Aussie Olympic team while awaiting coronavirus test results.
It’s been reported that all 5 have tested negative for COVID-19 as of today, Thursday, July 1st and they’ve all joined the 35-strong squad in Cairns, with the entire roster of swimmers reportedly having been vaccinated. (Perth Now)
For Horton in particular, this is the man’s second mad-dash evacuation to avoid a coronavirus-related lockdown. We reported late last month how he fled Melbourne in order to ensure he’d be able to race at the nation’s Olympic Trials in South Australia.
Well they’ve all been vaccinated for Tokyo so I would hope they all tested negative otherwise the vaccine ain’t working
As of 22 hours ago there were also no positive cases in Townsville . Therefore the number of vaccinated vs unvaccinated is 0:0 .
The big deal was they did not want it to get into the indigenous community on Palm Island .where many of the older ones live. The ferry leaves from the same wharf .
I’m totally focused on the swimmers
If you have read anything about the vaccinations you will know that they do not stop you getting it. They stop you getting seriously ill if you did get it…
This is good news No matter what side you are on, we need to see that Chalmers vs Dressel showdown. 🙂
