Towson Men & Women Improve To 3-0 Win Sweep of Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. – The Towson University women’s and men’s swimming teams took a pair of victories against Old Dominion in the first road dual meets of the season. The men’s team defeated the Monarchs 116-89. The women’s team defeated Old Dominion 136.5-68.5.

For the Women:

  • Ally FrameTiffany Matulis, Samanth Casolo and Claire Ryland finished second in the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:53.85.
  • Victoria Dichak took the top spot in the 1000 free at 10:49.90.
  • Bridget Thomas took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.88.
  • Ryland placed second in the 50 free (24.57).
  • Britney Denny placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:34.10.
  • Denny (2:06.98), Casolo (2:06.99) and Lizzy Jones (2:12.54) went 1-2-3 in the 200 fly.
  • Janine Murphy took first in the 100 free with atime of 53.82.
  • Addie Scott took the top spot in the 200 back at 2:02.74.
  • Thomas (5:10.44), Marissa Kleckner (5:20.93) and Dylan Gustaff (5:22.34) went 1-2-3 in the 500 free.
  • Bella Brennan placed third in the 200 breast (2:33.82).
  • Ryland, Willett, Kleckner and Scott won the 200-free relay at 1:36.87.

For the Men:

  • Sean ColsonBrian BenzingBenjamin Eischeid and Luke Schwar took second in the 400-medley relay, clocking in at 3:22.70.
  • Teddy Ament took third in the 1000 free at 9:48.55.
  • Benzing placed first in the 200 free at 1:39.26.
  • Michael Fazio (21.34), Schwar (21.39) and Eischeid (21.69) swept the podium in the 50 free.
  • David Walton took second place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:09.26.
  • Theo Dietrich’s 1:56.32 was good for second in the 200 fly.
  • Daniel McLaughlin took the top spot in the 100 free (47.11). Fazio (47.12) and Schwar (47.17) finished second and third.
  • Colson won the 200 back with a time of 1:49.88.
  • Ament took second in the 500 free at 4:41.12.
  • Benzing took first in the 200 breast at 2:02.61.
  • Fazio, Eischeid, McLaughlin and Bearor won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.13.

The Tigers open Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) competition tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. against William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominions Men’s and Women’s swimming team fell to Towson on Friday at the Scrap Chandler Pool. The men’s score was 116-89 and the women’s score was 136.5-68.5.

The first event of the day was the women’s 400 medley relay. ODU’s team of Ally HilbrichMary Dunworth, Martina Ciresi and Lauren Masters took first place finishing with a time of 3:53.85.

In the men’s 400 medley relay, ODU’s team of Gustaf HanssonBryce MortimerJamie Cleaver and Ryan Lincicum took first finishing with a time of 3:22.24.

In the women’s 1000 free, Sophia Kapla took second finishing with a time of 10:54.10 and Lilly Cleal took third finishing in 11:05.95.

ODU took the top two spots in the men’s 1000 free. Yagiz Ari finished in first with a time of 9:31.44 and Grey Bremer took second with a time of 9:42.50.

Mallory Mackay took second place in the women’s 200 free finishing with a time of 1:57.57.

In the men’s 200 free Jamie Cleaver took second finishing with a time of 1:40.50.

Mary Dunworth took first place in the women’s 50 free with a time of 24.40.

In the women’s 400 IM, Martina Ciriesi took second with a time of 4:36.05.

Bryce Mortimer took first in the men’s 400 IM finishing with a time of 4:08.08.

Jamie Cleaver earned first place in the men’s 200 fly with a time of 1:51.89.

In the women’s 100 free, Lauren Masters took second place with a time of 53.92.

Ally Hilbrich took second place with a time of 2:06.90 in the women’s 200 back.

In the men’s 200 back, Gustaf Hansson took second finishing with a time of 1:53.55.

Yagiz Ari took first place in the men’s 500 free finishing with a time of 4:36.79.

Martina Ciriesi took second place in the women’s 200 breast with a time of 2:24.46 and Marian Cheramy took second with a time of 2:32.85.

In the men’s 200 breast, Bryce Mortimer took second with a time of 2:05.80 and Toni Salluka took third with a time of 2:10.80.

ODU took third in the women’s 200 free relay, Tanya Yevminova, Samantha AllredLauren Masters and Mary Dunworth finished in 1:38.64.

In the men’s 200 free relay, Gustaf HanssonRussell HronekDawson Truong and Ryan Lincicum took second with a time of 1:25.52.

ODU is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. for a tri-meet at Campbell with the Camels and Gardner-Webb.
