Towson’s Ciriesi, Mortellite Named CAA Swimmers of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving teams both received Coastal Athletic Association weekly honors. Martina Ciriesi was named CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and Anthony Mortellite was named CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

Ciriesi was named Female Swimmer of the Meet after recording three individual wins at the Thomas Murphy Invite. Ciriesi won the 200-back with a time of 2:00.02, took the 100-fly with a time of 55.32, and topped the podium in the 200-IM with a time of 2:03.86. The grad student was also part of the 200-medley and 400-medley relay teams, both of whom finished in second place.

Mortellite swam the fastest 500-free time of any CAA swimmer so far this season when he posted a 4:32.79 time in the 500-free prelims, he finished seventh in the finals (4:38.09). The freshman also finished second in the 1650-free with a time of 15:47.84 and posted a 4:07.13 time in the 400-IM, which is fifth best in the CAA this season. Mortellite also swam in the second place 400-free relay team and in the third place 800-free relay team.

The Tigers have the first conference meet of the season at Delaware on Saturday, Nov. 2. The dual meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
