Three-time Olympic medalist, and Australian television commentator, Nicole Livingstone has been named the new CEO of the Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club – one of the most famous clubs in Australia.
Livingstone has been a member of the club for more than 30 years, including through the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Olympic Games. The list of famous swimmers coming from this club is among the greatest in all of Australia, if not the world, and includes besides Livingstone herself:
- Michael Klim
- Grant Hackett
- Rebecca Brown
- Marieke Guehrer
- Matt Targett
- Linley Frame
- Brett Hawke
- Giaan Rooney
- Matt Welsh
- Lori Munz
- Travis Nederpelt
- Patrick Murphy
Livingstone has a massive footprint upon the sport of swimming. In addition to her three Olympic appearances and new executive appointment, she’s on the Executive of the Australian Olympic Committee; is a board member of Swimming Australia; and is a television commentator for Network Ten, which means she’ll likely be involved in coverage for both the Pan Pac and Commonwealth Games this summer.
“Melbourne Vicentre is a wonderful club, with fantastic spirit and camaraderie, and I’m looking forward to working with Andrew Horton and all our members to take club forward,” said Livingstone. “I also believe that working at the grass roots of the sport and having an increased understanding of the club environment, will also benefit my commentary role and my roles on the Swimming Australia Board, and AOC Executive.”
Livingstone’s appointment will begin officially on July 1.
