Troy Emmons Resigns as Head Coach of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics

Troy Emmons, who became head coach of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics in Holland, Michigan, not quite two years ago, has resigned, effective immediately. Emmons had come from Katy Aquatics in Texas, where his vision for the future direction of the team clashed with that of the Board of Directors, prompting his resignation.

MLA has a long history of producing standout junior swimmers. Emmons’ predecessor Don Kimble coached Courtney Barthomolew, an All-American currently in her junior year at University of Virginia, throughout her high school career.

Below is the email sent to MLA families on Tuesday:

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Dear Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics Parents and Supporters,

This letter is to inform you that Troy Emmons has resigned from his position of Head Coach at Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics effective immediately.

Coach Tom Cuticchia has been selected as Interim Head Coach and is supported by our outstanding MLA Coaches, Kyle Mallory and Sara Kadzban. Tom may be contacted via email at [email protected].

There will be an informational meeting for parents on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Holland Community Aquatic Center.  All parents and MLA supporters are encouraged to attend.

MLA remains in excellent standing with USA Swimming and Michigan Swimming and we will continue to move forward with our mission: Teach, Develop, and Train, the Best Swimmers in Michigan!

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Jack Huisingh
Executive Director
Holland Community Aquatic Center

What was he thinking?

On second thought, don’t tell me. I’d rather not know.

100% agree with XTROYEMMONSASSISTANT. History repeats itself. As a former swimmer for MLA (never swam under Troy), I knew it was a bit sketchy bringing him on board. Don Kimble was the man… still is the man.

So what is the reason for the abrupt decision?

Apparently, he was arrested and charged for alleged intoxication, disorderly conduct, and indecent exposure.

Maybe pychodad would like to take another cheap shot like he did in 2013?

He has to praise Nitro in these articles so he can slam them in others…..

Doesn’t surprise me at all!!! Typical!!! History repeats it’s self! I would like to see Troy take over a successful team and keep it successful but at the same time keep his wife out of the business. Everyone knows business and family is hard to mix. I respect the man about this .. Much .. Good luck to him and whatever club he goes to..

I think Troy did create a successful team with MLA! The past couple years have shown the progression of a bunch of great swimmers from that program, and Troy has been apart of that. Granted his wife was apart of the business aspect of things, but you have to remember he’s a husband before he is a coach, and I’m assuming that means providing opportunities for his family.
