The Tulane Green Wave has been on a tear this year with recruiting. After picking up Olivia Johnson (who is already faster than two school records, and whose versatility extends to 4-5 really strong best events) and Gabby Vieira (who comes in as the fastest 100 butterflier in program history), St. Charles Swim Team’s Jordan Morling gives the Green Wave another potential school record holder- she is over a second faster than the 200 back school record, and is also faster than the 400 IM record.

At the 2014 IHSA Championships after moving from Virginia, swimming for St. Charles East High School, Morling touched 9th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 back. She upped her game as a junior, grabbing 4th in the 200 IM and finishing 2nd in the 100 back.
Morling would’ve been 3rd in the 200 back at last year’s AAC Champs, and in addition to that, would’ve been Tulane’s top swimmer in the 100 back (and A finaled), 200 fly (and B finaled), and 400 IM (and A finaled). She also would’ve been in the 200 IM A final. Tulane graduates top IMer Holly Grender and top breaststroker/sprint freestyler Mia Schachter after this season, but now have three incredibly capable and versatile incoming freshmen.
Together, this incoming class is faster than school records in the 400 IM (Johnson and Morling both), 1000 free, 200 back, and 100 fly. These three girls are also well within reach of records in the 200 breast (Johnson is just hundredths off), 1650 free (Johnson is also less than a second away from this one), 200 fly (Vieira is two seconds off), and 200 IM (Morling is less than a second off).
Tulane has had huge success recently with senior Schachter, who was their 2nd swimmer to ever qualify for NCAAs last season (and first in 11 years), and they have a lot more to get excited about. Each of their incoming freshmen thus far brings different strengths to the table, and they’ll be instrumental in rolling the Green Wave higher than the 4th place finish (of 6 teams) they had at the AAC Champs last season.
