Tulane’s McDonald, SMU’s Stambo Named AAC Women’s Swimmer & Diver of the Week

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s swimming and diving honors, for the combined weeks ending Sunday, Dec. 6/Monday, Dec. 14.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kate McDonald * Sr. * Tulane

McDonald picked up a pair of individual wins in a dual meet at LSU on Dec. 14, sweeping both breaststroke events. She swam the 100 breaststroke in a finals time of 1:01.59 for a conference best and NCAA B-cut, touching the wall by more than two seconds over teammate Christiana Williams. McDonald added a victory in the 200 breaststroke after posting a time of 2:14.92 for a season best.

Women’s Diver of the Week
Nicole Stambo * So. * SMU

Stambo enjoyed a solid performance off both boards in a dual meet at North Texas on Dec. 5. She took first place in the 1-meter dive after scoring 300.97 points for a personal best and NCAA Zone score. Stambo previously set a PR off the 3-meter board earlier this season with a prelim NCAA Zone score of 311.78 points against Drury on Nov. 19-21.
