Today the Turkey Swimming Federation announced a 22-swimmer team for the 2016 European Championships, the Swimming portion of which is next week in London, United Kingdom.

Viktoria Zeynep Gunes was the top scorer for the Turkish women at last year’s FINA World Championships, earning a 9th place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.46). She also came in 11th in the 200 breast (2:24.01) and 17th in the 100 breast (1:07.60).
The men’s top performer at Worlds last year was Nezir Karap, who placed 14th in the 400 free in a time of 3:50.07. Demi Atasoy will be another Turksh swimmer to watch at European Championships after a 14th place finish at the 2015 Short Course European Championships in the 100 breast (58.99).
The 2015 Short Course European Championships was the first time Turkey ever medaled at either the short or long course European Championships. The 17-year old Turkish star Viktoria Zeynep Gunes earned a bronze medal at the meet, swimming the 100 breast in a time of 105.32.
