The University of North Carolina Asheville picked up a pair of swimmers in twin sisters Madison and Skylar Rogan earlier this week. Both swim for Athens Bulldog Swim Club and attend Appalachee High School. Madison is primarily a butterfly and distance swimmer:

  • 200 fly- 2:08.27
  • 100 fly- 58.80
  • 500 free- 5:09.45
  • 400 IM- 4:40.36

With those times, Madison will be able to score right away in the CCSA conference. Both the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle would have made a night swim at the 2015 Championship. Each time also puts her near the top of Asheville’s depth chart in those events.

Skylar has a nearly identical ability in the 200 fly but is otherwise more freestyle focused:

  • 200 fly: 2:08.35
  • 500 free- 5:05.13
  • 200 free- 1:54.99
  • 1000 free- 10:36.62
  • 100 free- 53.50

In addition to having the same two scoring swims as her sister (200 fly and 500 free), Skylar has a potential scoring swim in the 200 free and would have made it onto the Bulldogs’ 800 freestyle relay last year. The twins had this to say about four more years competing on the same team:

We chose UNC Asheville because as soon as we arrived on campus we immediately felt at home. We loved the coaches passion for the sport and the teams family atmosphere. We know under Coach Elizabeth and Coach Rebecca’s leadership we will accomplish not only our athletic goals, but our academic as well.
