Two Egyptian Swimmers Suspended for Doping Infractions From Last June

Two Egyptian swimmers have been suspended by World Aquatics for doping infractions dating back to last June.

26-year-old Mohamed Samy was dealt an 18-month suspension for doping (SARMS S-23) based on an infraction from June 16, 2022. Two days later, Samy started swimming at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, placing 15th in the 4×100 freestyle relay and 20th in the 100 back (54.67).

An Indiana University graduate, Samy won the 2020 Swammy Award for African Male Swimmer of the Year. He’ll be ineligible until December 19, 2023.

20-year-old Egyptian artistic swimmer Shahd Abdallah was handed a two-year suspension for doping (furosemide), making the Tokyo 2021 Olympian ineligible until June 25, 2024. The Paris 2024 Olympics are slated to begin a month later on July 26, 2024.

The multivitamin was WADA approved and he received confirmation from the manufacturing company it is WADA approved. ITA offered reducing the sanction from 4 years to 18 months because “you are responsible for your body” although we know it was a contamination!! 😄😄. Otherwise take it to court in Switzerland and pay a punch of money to deliver your case.

This is what swimming for Indiana does to you. Especially during the tumultuous era of coaching turnovers with Cory, Coley, and Jonty
