U.S. Deaf Swimming Puts Out Call For Deaf or Hard of Hearing Swimmers

Update: U.S. Deaf Swimming is finalizing their roster for the World Championships, and have requested one last call for interested applicants.

So far, 16 countries are committed to participate in the World Deaf Swimming Championships that will be held from August 17th-22nd in San Antonio, Texas, and U.S. Deaf Swimming has put out a call to identify potential talent to represent the stars and stripes in front of a home crowd.

The team has already earned commitments from the United States’ two deaf stars: Deaf World Record holders Marcus Titus and Matthew Klotz have already committed to the team for the 4th edition of this meet.

U.S. Deaf Swimming officials, however, suspect that there are other hard of hearing swimmers who have not been identified yet by the organization, and they’ve asked SwimSwam to reach out to our audience to help find them.

U.S. Deaf Swimming would love to hear from both deaf and hard of hearing swimmers. Please contact Doug Matchett at [email protected].

My daughter, Kayla, is 13 and been swimming summer league since she was six. She has been hearing impaired since birth and has no aidable hearing in her right ear. She lives to swim and is quite good! My friend sent me this link…never knew y’all existed! Thank you.
