LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego women’s swim team came out on top over University San Diego’s Toreros on Saturday afternoon with a score of 193-92.

The Triton women are 6-2 in dual meets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons took first in 15 out of 16 events including two diving events. In the 100 yard butterfly, Jordan Phillips broke the pool record she previously set in 2020 with a time of 53.60.

SAN DIEGO — USD swimming and diving took on crosstown and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) opponent UC San Diego on Saturday (February 5), dropping a 193-92 decision to the Tritons at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.

The Toreros’ afternoon was highlighted by second-place finishes from sophomore Hannah Hintermeister and sophomore Mia Griffiths, with the pair placing second in the 200-Yard Breaststroke and the 500-Yard Freestyle, respectively.

Sophomore Emma Peters, freshman Gigi Zinis, Griffiths, and freshman Kate Peterson teamed up for a second place finish in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, beating two Triton teams in the process.

Freshman Jane Riehs narrowly missed wins in both the one and three meter dives, falling by 3.82 points in the one meter and 5.85 points in the three meter to take second place in both.

USD will conclude its 2021-2022 schedule next time out at the MPSF Championships from Wednesday, February 16, to Saturday, February 19.
