UConn Announces Full 2016-2017 Schedule

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs released their 2016-17 schedules on Tuesday, announcing 14 events and eight home meets.

The Huskies enter their fourth season in the recently-formed American Athletic Conference and kick off the season on Oct. 18 when both the men’s and women’s programs welcome Keene State and Bridgeport to the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium for a 1 p.m. meet. A week later, Connecticut returns to the pool for its annual Alumni Meet and Social, set for 12 p.m. on Oct. 22 before its first dual-meet against Brown on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.

The men’s team opens the month of November against SMU on Nov. 4 in Storrs before the women head to Middletown, Conn. to participate in the Wesleyan Invite on Oct. 12. The next weekend, the two teams travel to the Princeton Invite, slated for Nov. 11-12.

Next up, Connecticut returns to Blacksburg, Va. for the first time since the 2013 campaign when it takes part in the four-day Virginia Tech Invitational on November 17-20. Following a two-week layoff, UConn begins the month of December against regional competition, hosting ale and Boston University on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. in Storrs.

After a month long break in December, Connecticut celebrates the New Year with a trip to San Juan, participating in the Copa Coqui on Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. A season ago, the men’s and swimming teams each finished on top of their respective sides, posting the highest combined score for the second-straight season.

The Huskies continue their dual-meet slate on Jan. 20 when they welcome Southern Connecticut to Storrs for a 5 p.m. meet. Two days later, the Huskies celebrate the careers of their distinguished senior class with a dual meet against Seton Hall on Nov. 22 before rounding out the month at Dartmouth on Nov. 28.

The final tune-up before the conference championship comes on Feb. 4 when the team participates in the Husky open at noon. 11 days later, the Huskies travel to Houston, Texas to compete for the American Athletic Conference championship on Feb. 15-18.

Postseason action continues with the Zone A Diving meet on March 6-8 in Blacksburg, Va. before the Women’s NCAA swimming championships (March 16-18) and the men’s NCAA Swimming championships (March 23-25).
