Washington, DC – Fresh off a win at Villanova earlier in the weekend, the UConn women’s swimming and diving team cinched another against conference foe Georgetown Saturday. The team took first place in eight of sixteen events competed, outgaining Georgetown by a score of 158 to 142.

On the win, Coach Maiello said, “Great road win today in DC. The team showed toughness, grit and matched the intensity of the other side of the pool. The team raised to the moment, and we came out on top. Good things to come for this group.”

On her win in the 1m dive, Ana Laura Faoro said, “It was such a fun meet with a great competitive environment. I love being a part of a team that’s always so energized and motivated, it’s always a great feeling hearing the swimmers cheer for us divers from across the pool. Can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings; I know it’ll be a good one!”

The win also included a new pool record in the 200y Backstroke for Robyn Edwards, “The team atmosphere was unmated to anything I have ever experienced before. Coming together as a team and winning both meets with such a positive attitude from everyone was really special. So glad to be a husky.”

Up Next – The team returns home to prepare for its next matchup, a home meet against Southern Connecticut State November 5.
