One note: In the last Swimulator related article I posted on Tuesday, a few commenters noted the relays in the system looked off. There was a problem with how relay times were being imported which has been fixed. Relays should be correct now.
The UCSD men and Drury women lead in the current Swimulator rankings of Division 2 schools. Due to mid season rest meets, at this point in the season the average time rankings are more instructive than the top time rankings, so we’ll focus on those.
Currently Drury leads Queens 481 to 426. The Queens women won last year’s championship by a wide margin, but they were also ahead in these rankings at this point last year 519 to 383 over 2nd place Drury. The Queens women beat their midseason projection by 48 points where as the Drury women dropped 88 points. If something similar happens this year Queens will retain their title. UCSD and Simon Fraser come in 3rd and 4th and appear to be the only other 2 teams within realistic striking distance of the title.
For the men, UCSD leads Drury 455 to 398. UCSD and Drury both dropped significantly from their mid season rankings last year (56 and 82 points respectively), whereas last year’s champion Queens jumped 151 points from their midseason ranking. This year’s UCSD team is currently ranked 138 points better than last year’s mid season 1st place Drury team. The complete top tens from both this year and last year can be found below.
