Emmaline Peterson of Hickory, North Carolina, has verbally committed to the University of Georgia class of 2021, joining Sammie Burchill, Maddie Wallis and Regan Barney.
“I chose UGA because it is the perfect college for me. I was almost skeptical at how perfect it is. The swim program is amazing and the school’s academics offer exactly what I want. The team dynamic is so great and I can tell everyone genuinely loves and supports each other. I don’t have any ties to the program, but I was born in Atlanta and I’ve always felt at home in Georgia.”
Peterson swims for Hickory High School and Hickory Foundation YMCA Seahorse Swim Team. Very much in the Georgia mold, she is the defending three-time NCHSAA 3A champion in the 500 free, and at the YMCA Long Course National Championships, she has won both the 800m free and 1500m free in each of the last two years. Her best times are:
SCY | LCM | |
1650/1500 free | 16:11.79 | 16:45.63 |
1000/800 free | 9:47.64 | 8:49.15 |
500/400 free | 4:46.43 | 4:19.39 |
