The following coaches were also selected: Arilson da Silva, Petro Nahornyy, Svitlana Toloknyanyk and Yurii Zevin.Of note is that Brazilian coach Arilson da Silva was selected on the basis of being the primary coach of Andrii Govorov. Govorov has medaled at the last two European Championships, winning bronze in the 50 free in 2012 and the 50 fly in 2014. Valerii Dymo is another swimmer with long course medal experience on this roster, he won silver in the 100 breaststroke in 2012. Sergii Frolov was also a medalist in 2012, in the 800 freestyle.
The rising talent on this squad is Andrii Klophtsov, who was the gold medalist in the 50 fly at last summer’s World Junior Championship.
On the women’s side, Daryna Zevina has been one of the top short course performers in the world but is still missing a break through in major long course senior competition. The most major international long course senior competition she has medaled at is the 2013 World University Games.
