UNC’s Caroline Baldwin Named ACC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

North Carolina’s Caroline Baldwin has been named the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and Camryn “Cami” Hidalgo of Georgia Tech has been selected as the Women’s Diver of the Week. For the men, Tar Heel Valdas Abaliksta has been selected as the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and Yellow Jacket Matt Casillas has been named the Men’s Diver of the Week.

Baldwin was key in North Carolina’s 159-141 win over No. 22 South Carolina. The senior from Westfield, New Jersey, won gold in the 100 free, 100 back, 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay. Baldwin turned in NCAA B cut times in the 100 free (49.07) and the 100 back (53.28).

Hidalgo won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions in Georgia Tech’s 201-90 win over Delta State. The freshman from Mission Viejo, California, set new program records on the 1-meter (331.35), and the 3-meter (353.63), turning in the ACC’s best scores of the season in both competitions.

Abaliksta turned in a strong effort for North Carolina against No. 20 South Carolina. The freshman from Miglovaros, Lithuania, turned in NCAA B cuts and top-10 national times in both the 100 breast (54.34) and 200 breast (1:58.54).

Casillas helped Georgia Tech to a 198-96 win over Delta State by winning the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. The junior from Orange, California, posted the ACC’s best mark of the season on the 3-meter (404.25), and the conference’s second-best score of the year on the 1-meter (359.40).
