The second day of the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series Meet in Santa Clara features the 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 100 butterfly, and 400m IM. Lauren Boyle and Michael McBroom won the non-Olympic distance events on the first night to open the final stop of the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series.
The biggest surprise on the Friday morning heat sheets was the lack of Florida swimmers. Coming into the meet, Jessica Thielmann, Mitch D’Arrigo, Natalie Hinds, Dan Wallace, Corey Main, Bayley Main, Eduardo Solaeche-Gomez, Matt Elliott, and Caeleb Dressel were all entered to swim on Friday morning, along with US Olympian and former Florida Gator, Elizabeth Beisel. Several Florida swimmers also scratched during the Charlotte stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series, although not all of them. Beisel and Wallace actually showed up at a local club meet in Florida the same weekend instead of competing in Charlotte.
**Update – One of our readers, Bill Koppelman, “found” a majority of the Florida swim team. They are also entered in the 2015 Sizzlin’ Summer Invite in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend.
Other big names that are missing from the Friday morning include US Olympians Conor Dwyer and Matt Grevers. Dwyer was originally entered in the 200 freestyle and the 400 IM, and Grevers was entered in the 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Dwyer, another Florida alum, although he no longer trains with them, also scratched all of his day two events. Grevers is still entered in the backstroke, but he is no longer swimming the 100 butterfly.

Or your sponsor is paying who foots the bill? Does USA swimming? Airline tickets, hotels, etc… It ain’t cheap.
I’m no expert but Georgia is a lot closer to Florida than Santa Clara. Unless you are a pro with a chance of winning prize money
probably too busy building cups.
Guess Leverenz is winning the BMW if Beisel doesn’t show, since Hosszu is foreign.
Well, it makes the 200 free a lot less exciting for the men, but on the up side Phelps will have an experience closer to what he is facing at Nationals so… Maybe a dress rehearsal to stay motivated when the top competition is abroad?
Why so many no-shows? Dwyer is right there in Cali.
How does this work regarding entry fees? Seems like a lot of wasted money recently…
