University Of Pittsburgh Announces Fundraising Project For Pool Renovations

The University of Pittsburgh has announced the Trees Pool Renovation Project, a fundraising effort with the focus of improving the Panthers’ Trees pool.

The announcement was made at the annual Alumni Meet which had members of the 1950’s men’s swim team among others in attendance.

The project, which will start immediately, is concentrated around the goal of raising $2.8 million. The money will go towards renovations of the facility including new locker rooms for men and women, a team meeting room and lounge, an in-house nutrition center, and a legacy wall to celebrate the team’s history.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March of 2016 with an estimated completion date of August 2016.

The video above gives a virtual tour of what the planned renovation will look like following it’s completion.

Based on the video provided, the team room will be accessible from the pool deck. The nutrition center will be in the team room.

Across from the nutrition center will be the legacy wall which will showcase pictures of historic Panthers who swam at the very same facility.

The locker rooms look to be state of the art based on the video.

This renovation comes shortly after the University of Pittsburgh added a 26 x 14.5-foot LED video display and gave their commitment to making sure their facilities are state-of-the-art.
