University of Wyoming 2016-2017 Swimming and Diving Schedule

University of Wyoming head swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson announced the 2016-17 schedule for the Cowboys and Cowgirls on Thursday. The schedule features four home duals meets during the upcoming season, in addition to two duals in Green River, Wyo.

“It will be nice to have a few more duals in Corbett,” UW head coach Tom Johnson said. “Additionally, we are excited about making our way back to Green River a couple more times. They did an awesome job of hosting us last year. We only had our men out there a year ago, so it will be fun for the ladies and the fans on that side of the state to experience a dual out there as well.”

Wyoming will once again open the season with the annual Brown and Gold exhibition meet on Sept. 30. The lone exhibition for UW will be the opening event for the Cowboys and Cowgirls for the tenth-consecutive season. On. Oct. 8, Wyoming will travel to the DU Relays for the seventh-straight year and then the Cowgirls will welcome New Mexico for the first home dual on Oct. 14.

On Nov. 5, the Pokes will take on Colorado Mesa in Green River before UW makes its way to Columbia, Mo., for the Missouri Invite. To close out 2016, Wyoming will travel to the Colorado Mesa Invite, and meet Utah in Green River for the second-straight year.

To bring in the New Year, Colorado School of Mines will visit Laramie on Jan. 7 for Senior Night. UW will then compete against DU and Minnesota in a double-dual in Denver on Jan. 13-14. The Cowgirls will challenge Boise State in Laramie on Jan. 20, before making their way to Fort Collins to compete against CSU the next day.

“We will use the high school for the dual against Boise State,” Johnson added. “We wanted to get a few more swims in and I am sure it will be a great atmosphere.”

To wrap up the regular season, both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will travel to Las Vegas to match up against UNLV on Jan. 27. The Air Force Diving Invite will take place in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 27-28.

“We no doubt have teams that will come in and challenge this group,” Johnson said. “Plenty of competition will be here for the home duals all throughout the season, and that will definitely help us for the conference meets.”

The 2016 Mountain West Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will once again be held in College Station, Texas, on Feb. 15-18, while the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships will be in Houston, Texas on Feb. 22-25.
