UNLV To Host Three Square Splash Fundraising Event Saturday

The UNLV men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will host the “Three Square Splash” Saturday, four hours of aquatic fun and entertainment for the Las Vegas community. The fundraising event will benefit the Three Square organization and runs from 8 am – 12 pm at UNLV’s Buchanan Natatorium.

“We are starting something entirely new with the Three Square Splash,” said UNLV head swimming and diving coach Ben Loorz. “There has never been an event that brings together the entire Las Vegas aquatics community, and that is our aim. Three Square is also one of our favorite Las Vegas organizations. They are clear-minded in their purpose, and we are pleased to be able to turn one hundred percent of the proceeds back over to them for the purpose of feeding our community with healthy food.”

The event will include clinics in diving, synchronized swimming, water polo, Masters swimming and sprint training. Leading the clinics will be some of the best coaching minds from the local community in their respective sports. That includes former UNLV sprinter Dillon Virva, currently a member of the USA national team. This one-of-a-kind event is designed for all ages, with the goal of introducing more sports to the local community as well as helping to raise funds for Three Square.

“We hope to have participants of all ages coming out to join our free clinics, from swimming, to water polo, to synchro, to diving,” said Loorz. “The environment will be casual and festive – it is truly a community exercise event, and anyone is welcome. It’s a big vision, for sure, but one that we expect to be a lot of fun. This is an open event, and everyone is welcome to show up and participate.”

Clinics in diving, hosted by UNLV diving coach Landon Marzullo, will begin at 8 am, while the Masters swimming clinic will be run by Loorz, also at 8 am. The 9 am hour will have a synchronized swimming clinic, while water polo will be run at 10 am and sprint training at 11 am. There are also three one-hour time slots of open swim available at 9 am10 am, and 11 am for participants to work out while the other clinics are going on.

Advanced registration is available at https://www.threesquare.org/unlv-swim, and registration will also be available up to the morning of the event at Buchanan Natatorium. The cost is $30 for adults, and $10 plus two cans of non-perishable food for students.
