LAS VEGAS – The UNLV women’s swimming and diving team will head to UNR to compete in their first dual meet of 2019. The Rebels have been idle since December 19th for winter training. UNR is a conference rival for the Rebel women as part of the Mountain West.

Setting the pace for the Rebel women this season are freshman trio, Julia Filippova, Carissa Armijo, and Filio Raftopoulou. Filippova, two time recipient of the Mountain West swimmer of the week award, is ranked third in the MW in the 200 free (1:48.15).

QUOTABLE-
“We are expecting big things from our team…they have been stepping up very consistently in practice, and I know that the team feels how important this meet is.  We always step up against UNR, it’s the most important dual meet of the year for the women”
-HEAD COACH BEN LOORZ

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will host UCSB and Denver January 18 at 5pm at the Jim Reitz Pool for the annual Friday Night Lights meet.
