LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)  – UNLV swimming sophomore George Ratiu has been tabbed the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This marks Ratiu’s first career weekly honor while he is the fourth Rebel to receive the recognition this season.

Ratiu, a native of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, collected two individual and contributed to four relay wins as the Rebels earned the double dual sweep over Wyoming and Hawai’i over the weekend. Individually, he swept the 100 freestyle (44.63) and 100 butterfly (48.95) races. In UNLV’s perfect 4-0 relay weekend, Ratiu swam the butterfly legs of the 200 medley (1:28.97) and 400 medley relays (3:17.75) as well as the leadoff in the 200 free (1:20.80) and 400 free (2:58.51) relays.

UP NEXT: UNLV will have one final regular season tune-up as it heads on the road for a dual meet at Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. PT.
