US National Synchronized Swimming Championships Set To Begin April 1st

Former Olympians and the 2015 U.S. National Squad will be among the 350 swimmers from 40 teams that will compete at the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships this week.

The championships began Tuesday with practice swims, with competition set for April 1-4. Swimmers advanced to the championships through various qualifying measures, including top placements at zone championships, past national championships and other qualifying scores.

The event, which includes the U.S. Senior National Championships, U.S. Junior National Championships and U.S. 13-15 National Championships, will be held at the Soda Aquatic Center.

Tickets are $10 per day or $35 for an event pass and may be purchased on site.

2012 Olympians Mary Killman (Lindenwood University) and Mariya Koroleva (U.S. National Squad) will compete in several events, including senior solo (Killman), senior duet (both) and senior team (Koroleva). The pair finished 11th in the duet at the London Games.

Competing for the U.S. National Squad will be: Anita Alvarez, Claire Barton, Phoebe Coffin, Mariya Koroleva, Isabel Malcolmson, Sarah Rodriguez, Karensa Tjoa and Alison Williams. Team USA will also have two duets competing: Alvarez and Barton, and Koroleva and Williams.
