US Open Qualifier Drew Jalbert Commits to Pitt

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Drew Jalbert from Westerly, Rhode Island has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

“I’m super stoked to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh! I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me, especially my coaches. I also want to thank the great people at Pitt for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a Panther! Hail to Pitt! #H2P”

Jalbert swims for Connecticut Aquatic Club out of Gales Ferry, Connecticut and was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American this past year. He had a very successful short course meet in May, earning seven best times at the CPAC meet. He continued his success into the summer as he attained numerous long course best times while at the Connecticut Senior Championships. There he earned best times in the 50 (24.79), 100 (54.15), and 200 (2:03.04) freestyles as well as the 100 (55.22) and 200 (2:06.54) butterflies. Those best times earned him a Winter Juniors cut in the 200 butterfly as well as a Winter U.S. Open cut in the 100 butterfly.

Jalbert just began his senior year at The Prout School in Wakefield, Rhode Island. He also runs outdoor track for the school.

His best short course times are:

  • 50 freestyle: 21.09
  • 100 freestyle: 46.39
  • 100 backstroke: 51.59

The University of Pittsburgh is a public university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school is a member of the ACC. At the 2021 Men’s ACC Championships, Pitt finished ninth out of 12 teams.

It took 46.85 in the 100 butterfly, 1:46.94 in the 200 butterfly, 1:46.94 in the 200 IM, and 47.50 in the 100 backstroke to make it back for finals at the 2021 championships.
