USA Men Top China 13-6; Advance To Title Match Of FINA Intercontinental Tournament

The USA Men’s National Team advanced to the final of the FINA Intercontinental Tournament with a 13-6 win over China. Bret Bonanni (Huntington Beach, CA/Stanford/Stanford) scored three goals to lead the offense while McQuin Baron (North Tustin, CA/Mater Dei HS/United) and Jon Sibley (Lafayette, CA/California/Lamorinda) combined for 10 saves. Team USA will take on Brazil on Sunday in the final at 4:20pm local time/1:20 am pacific time.

The match was close after the first period with Team USA ahead just one at 3-2. They blew the game open in the second quarter outscoring China 4-0 to grab a 7-2 lead at halftime. They continued to hold the advantage outscoring China 3-2 in both the third and fourth period to come away with the 13-6 win.

The United States went 4/8 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots while China was 2/7 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Team USA will head to Northern California where they will host Serbia in a four game exhibition series from June 4-8. Tickets for all four matches are currently on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
