USA Men’s Water Polo Names World Championships Roster

IRVINE, Calif. – USA Men’s National Team Head Coach Dejan Udovicic has announced the roster for the upcoming FINA World Championship in Gwangju, South Korea. The USA Men are fresh off a gold medal finish at the China Wenjiang Tournament in Chengdu where they went 3-1. Team USA’s roster in Gwangju is lead by captain and four-time Olympian Jesse Smith (Coronado, CA/Pepperdine/NYAC). He’s joined by fellow 2016 Olympians Alex Obert (Loomis, CA/Pacific/NYAC), Ben Hallock (Westlake Village, CA/Stanford/LA Premier), Luca Cupido (Santa Margherita, Italy/California/Olympic Club) and Alex Bowen (Santee, CA/Stanford/NYAC).

Alex Wolf (Huntington Beach, CA/UCLA/Bruin), Hannes Daube (Long Beach, CA/USC/North Irvine WPC) and Matt Farmer (La Grange, IL/UCLA/Windy City WP) make their FINA World Championship debut in 2019. Team USA opens play on July 15 against Kazakhstan before meeting Croatia and Australia to close out group play. A champion will be crowned on July 27. The top two finishers at this event qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.
