USA Swimming Athlete Executive Committee Released 3rd Athletes’ Splash Newsletter

The USA Swimming Athlete Executive Committee (AEC) released their third installment of Athletes’ Splash, a newsletter to all swimming representatives and athlete members of USA Swimming.

USA Swimming Athletes Committee logoIn line with the AEC’s new communication initiative the newsletter has been created as an outlet for governance information concerning athletes. It’s also positioned to serve as insight into what athlete representatives do within the sport and encourages athlete involvement.

This issue’s highlights include the upcoming United States Aquatics Sports (USAS) Convention, a FINA update from Aaron Piersol, USOC upadate from Peter Vanderkaay, and a World Championship recap from Ricky Berens.

About the Athletes Executive Committee:

The Athletes Executive Committee is a 13-member subcommittee of the Athletes Committee. Its purpose is to lead the business of the Athletes Committee buy conducting business throughout the year via digital means and in person meetings. The chair and vice-chair also represent athletes on the USA Swimming Board of Directors.

Representatives are elected every other year at the annual United State Aquatics Sports (USAS) Convention. To be eligible for a position you must attend at least two prior conventions.

The Athletes Committee is every athlete representative within USA Swimming. The majority of which are elected through their LSC. After attending two conventions these athletes are eligible to serve on USA Swimming committees such as governance, LSC development, and all the others in order to achieve 20% athlete representation in accordance with the Amateur Sports Act.
