USA Swimming released its 2015 FINA Worlds roster back in October, but just announced some significant changes on the men’s line-up. Matt McLean will no longer be competing due to a shoulder injury, which now brings in Michael Klueh to replace McLean on the 800 free relay.
Ryan Lochte was originally slated to swim both the 100 and 200 freestyle individual events, but is now focusing on just the 200 freestyle in addition to his 200 IM. Jimmy Feigen, who was already on the roster for the 400 free relay, now has the 100 freestyle individual event listed next to his name.

Maybe not Clary due to his busy schedule, but could anyone see Conor Jaeger in the finals of that relay? Don’t think he’d have to deal with any doubles. Plus, he’s been a 1:47 from the Georgia Invite last year.
Definitely. I really thought he might be the next key leg on that relay (like Berens or PVK) after he went 1:47 at Nationals in 2013. Definitely still a possibility.
Was also thinking Malone might be a guy making moves to get on that relay. Especially after the way he anchored the 4×2 for USC at NCs.
i did think as well for Conor Jaeger – his schedule is not as heavy as Clary’s + Reed Malone . Us needs to try new talent on the rise somehow between this summer and the Olympics . No other choices yet available .
Considering his 1:42.86 relay split at SC Worlds I think Clary probably has a 1:46 mid-high time in him if he swims the relay this summer , which would put the U.S. In good hands to win !

Yeah, absolutely. Unless two of the four prelims swimmers go under 1:47, I’d rather roll with Clary if he’s having a good meet.
I suppose it’s not much of a factor for a 400 IM swimmer, but he will have the 200 back final (assuming he qualifies) that same session. The coaches will be able to judge based on his performane in the 200 fly and 200 IM, which he will have already completed, and as Joe suggested the prelim results. I think it’s a possibility!
Theoretically, yes, but I’d feel better about it if he weren’t already swimming four of the toughest events out there. Here’s his schedule, if I’m reading it right:
Sunday: none
Monday: none
Tuesday: 200 fly prelims/semis
Wednesday: 200 IM prelims/semis & 200 fly finals
Thursday: 200 back prelims/semis & 200 IM finals
Friday: 200 back finals / (4×200 free relay)
Saturday: off
Sunday: 400 IM prelims/finals

CT Swim Fan – it appears that the team never made it through all the 2nd fastest eligible swimmers in each event before it hit the 18-swimmer cap. Only one other guy had been listed on the roster for the 100 fly and 100 back, each.
Missed Griffin initially in the 100 back. Still only see one swimmer in the 100 fly initially, so I’m guessing when Feigen got dropped from the Pan Am team, that freed up a spot on the roster, and that went to Godsoe in the 100 fly based on world ranking or finish at nationals.
I get all of this, but I do not understand why this all caused Eugene Godsoe (100 Back, 100 Fly) and Ryan Feeley (400 free, 1500 free) to be added to the Pan Am. Roster. Can someone enlighten me please?
I was wondering the same thing about Godsoe. I’m guessing maybe he’s taking the 100 fly spot that was vacated by Phillips replacing Phelps on the Worlds team? And then, since he’s now on the team, he takes the 100 back slot from Carter Griffin? Not sure why Griffin had the 100 back in the first place, except maybe something to do with allowable roster size.
I’m also glad to see Feigen swimming the 100 free. With him no longer a relay-only swimmer here, I’m assuming that means he’ll no longer be swimming in the Pan-Am games?
1. I hope McLean’s injury is not serious!!! Thank God it happened this year instead of next! The US NEEDS him at his best in Rio! IMO, McLean gets the credit for winning the 4×200 free relay for the US at Pan Pac’s. I’m sure I’m speaking for MANY when I wish him a speedy recovery!

I agree re: Lochte 100 free. I think his 100 will improve now that Dave Marsh is actually making him train seriously. Still, 20 year olds have trouble bouncing back after the 200 IM, let alone 31 year olds. Hopefully we’ll end up seeing a wicked split out of Lochte on the relay… but I think we can all agree to leave the anchor for Adrian.
Amen!!! No offense to Lochte, who is dependable and talented and hard-working and clearly raises himself to a new level when swimming on a relay, but when you have somebody like Nathan Adrian on your Team who has gone under 47 anchoring the US medley relay on multiple occasions, is there even a question?!
Sorry to hear about Mclean. However, this is great news for Feigen; I believe he will go faster than Lochte would have.
